Lighting the Propane Stove in the Cabin

Our ignitor is not functioning. When I pen the propane valve and try to light the OVEN - where do I place the lighter?

Look in the manual, if there is a safe way to ignite the oven there should be a little hole. Some ovens don't have an aux method to ignite the oven for safety reasons. Might have to replace the ignitor. Usually not a big job, likely behind an access plate in the bottom

Also, could be dead battery. See earlier post about removing the oven to replace battery.

Battery is within the ignitor switch (not the issue).

Push the knob in and hold it while holding the lighter under the thermocouple/pilot (small tubular thing near the burner). You will have to hold the lighter there while holding the knob down for a little while for the thermocouple to heat up and allow gas to flow. release the knob and the small flame should stay lit. now set your desired temp and the burner should ignite.

Thanks but it isn't the burner (that is easy to light). I want to light the oven and want to know where to place the lighter.

The stove burner is, indeed, easy to light. So is the oven, as outlined in my procedure of how to light the oven... I was not talking about the stove.

You don’t mention what year your tug is or brand & model of stove on your tug.

Check Sure Marine in Ballard. I just purchased replacement igniter there for the second time, surprisingly same price as almost five years ago. I have Princess stove on 2011 R-27.

Sure Marine also has website (suremarine.com) and will ship if not local to Seattle.
