I have a 12 volt AGM motorcycle battery I use for a wireless back up camera on the back of my boat. I have the monitor at the helm and it helps with docking or watching the rods while fishing. Its also handy because I can put the monitor in the truck while I'm towing to see traffic and hazards when backing. After a weekend of using the boat I bring the battery back home and put it on the charger for the next trip. (I know I should hard wire the camera but haven't got around to that yet.) My question is; if I'm doing a multi-day trip can I just run a jumper from the boat batteries (also AGM) to this little battery to charge it up or will I blow the thing up or cause other problems that I haven't thought of? I could also bring the whole charger with me and run it off the AC but that's more stuff to bring along and I'm hoping for an easy solution. Thoughts?

Hello,

I would be worried about no circuit protection from the boat battery to your smaller battery. Also know that the powersports batteries charge at a different rate than a standard automotive or marine battery. I would recommend using an AC charger, I have been using these with great results and performance:

They can charge 12v and 6v and from lead acid to lithium batteries. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Thanks Kevin. That's certainly more compact than the old beast of a charger I have.
