I left my boat on my trailer for a few weeks and returned to find water steadily dripping from the bilge plug hole. It's unclear how long it had been dripping, but suffice it to say it was a long time - at least four days during the return to home trip. That implies that there is a reservoir that is draining oh so slowly. Upon inspection, the cavity in the aft, port corner below and behind the battery bank was totally full of water. The easiest way to get water there is from heavy rains pouring into the cockpit and overpowering to scupper system. There was some debris in the pipes, but nothing major. Of course the water could be from any part of the boat also. In any case, I cannot see any limber holes draining that cavity. I see the two on either side of the shaft that drains the thruster cavity. Are there limber holes that drain the corner cavity?

On my 2012 R27, both the port cavity directly under the thruster motor and the mirrored starboard cavity where the depth sounder is located, don't drain completely and hold water. They do have limber holes that drain forward into the engine compartment and down into the bilge but I can't see them when looking down into the rear seat storage area (after removing the shelf). If they get plugged with debris, it can act as a wick for draining water slowly from that compartment (that accumulates from overpowering rain) and into your bilge and out the garboard drain. All hypothetical of course.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I can see those limber holes and I can tell they are open, but I don't know if the cavity they drain has communication with the outside cavities and therefore should drain them as well.

By outside cavities do you mean the large starboard and port lockers? I believe those have clearly visible holes in the engine compartment and drain athwartships. What I still can't figure out is where the SS grates at the back of the battery compartment (on port) and the back of the starboard locker drain to.

Seems like your R25 is different than mine? In total, I have 5 cavities in the cockpit area (not including the engine/bilge area) - starboard locker, trim tab cavity, depth sounder cavity, raised area at the rudder (not really a cavity), rear thruster cavity, and the battery/port locker area.

The ONLY limber holes I see drain the depth sounder and thruster cavities into the bilge. The one that I am questioning is the most astern part of the battery/port locker area - in the corner of the port/stern. This is what was full of water up to the base of the batteries. It turns out I did find a plug in the scupper drain hose coming from above that area and going to the scupper hose so that would be the cause of my problem, but a limber hole should have drained it into the bilge.

I don't have SS Grates at the back of the battery compartment. Maybe instead I have plywood floor that the batteries sit on? It sounds like you are questioning that same area!
