Locking Lazarettes/Compartments

Scratch my previous recommendation. I'm getting ready to install one today and found that I could 'jimmy' the latch open with my hands while locked. Only one exhibited this flaw, but it brings into question QC. They really look to be nice locks, but if there's enough wiggle room to get the thing open while locked, then it's worthless.

With the huge cockpit storage area on Oh Well 2010 R27 OB, I also wanted to secure the 3 hatches. Ranger support indicated the manufacturer of the latches was Gen Lux and the part number 1264-2-2". Ordered 3 cost of about $50 per latch. Installation was not hard. Suggest you go to Gem Lux website to confirm or ask Ranger support to confirm latch for your boat. I asked all to be keyed the same so now have 6 keys to potentially lose. Ha!!

Hope this helps,
Greg Bialy

Does anyone happen to know whether the GemLux locking latches https://www.gemlux.com/1264-L-2 would work on a C30 (2019)? Looks like they should but would be nice to confirm.

BTW the price listed on their site appears erroneous. It says $15 but when put into the shopping cart, it becomes $50 (which is more reasonable).

I just replaced the non-locking latches on my 2026 C-248 with these. It was a simple matter of changing out the barrel, no need to remove/replace the housing.

Gemlux 2" LIFT HANDLE LOCKING, SQUARE FACE

I converted the three deck hatches on my 2019 R23 to locking. Did not need to cut them out to replace the whole latch. Gem hardware makes the square "lift and turn" latch in a locking version as well as the non-locking which was installed on my boat. The current models of these two latches are identical except the turning bolts. I ordered three new locking latches, removed the bolts and switched them into my stock latches. Easy. One hour, no digging out glue to replace the whole latch.
Latches could be different on older models....
Just getting ready to do this on our 2022 R27OB, will verify the bases are the same, then do the same! Thank you!

I have a Gemlux locking square latch on order. I should be getting it this weekend and will install next week and take pix once I've made the transition and put up here.

Got the Gemlux locking hatch that matched up perfectly. It did not come with new mounting screws, interesting…. So I used the old ones, and the heads are too tall to allow it to lock. Off to Tiffany’s to get smaller head mounting screws.
