I’ve noticed a LOT of things getting loose on my boat, possibly due to vibrations under way. While cruising this autumn, it seems like I’m building a daily list of things to fix and finding that the fix is tightening a screw or nut. Just this past week, I’ve “fixed” the following by tightening something:
While Loctite isn’t appropriate for some of these items (light switch, windlass), can I use it for screws and bolts that seem to loosen on their own? This is the second time I’ve tightened that rail since September.
Which Loctite or similar solution should I use?
- * Rattling mast guy wire - tighten a turnbuckle and nut
* Loose rail - tighten a set screw
* Flickering bathroom light - tighten a switch connector
* Inoperative windshield wipers - tighten the blade connection to the motor
* Barely operable windlass - tighten the windlass
