I was looking at a C32 and having a hard time deciding if I purchase the boat with the command bridge or not. I live in the PNW and wanna use the boat for fishing/cruising. Any pointers or suggestions.

its a personal decision.

i have a 28 and have considered a 30/32 upgrade many times. Personally I would probably select the sedan. my reasons
1. i don't think the money is justifiable for the extra space it provides.
2. I think the solar panel placement is not an effective solution. the support bar for the radar creates a permanent shadow on the panel. I value the power from the solar panel
3. If you are fishing you will likely be driving from the cockpit driving station (trawling). its not like in the PNW you are in a tower looking for big game!
4. if you want to add gear, you dont have the roof space
5. i prefer the look of the sedan.
6. its more weight to haul around
7. I have zero issue maneuvering the boat from inside and then heading out to tie up at the dock. It seems faster than attempting to come down some narrow stairs.

What's got me stuck is that dealership wants to sell me the cb version,
For the price of a coup with all the bells and whistles. So cost is neutral. I was about the space as well without the command bridge (ie. Using it for kayak storage and possibly a thule.) Also I feel as though the aft controls would be more useful especially with trolling even though the dealer said there was a remote control that I could use to steer

Find a used one and save an additional 20 to 35%. Factory may even have a trade. Expand your search area. Cheap to move these boats around. Just my .02.

My next boat will be a CB, having ridden on a CB, I want to have the views that are available from up there and I want to be able to get out and have the in the wind in my face. That is one of the things I miss on my current 27OB, the wind in my face. We don't plan on doing much more than a 2 week trip at a time and won't need the roof for storage. My big concern with CB is the blocking of the solar panel, I may need find a better place to mount that. I also don't intend to trailer the boat so the extra height of the CB won't matter to us. You need to define just how you will be using the boat. It does sound to me since you have fishing as a priority that the coupe with cockpit controls would be the way to go. Fishing is not a priority for us. I agree with finding a good used boat. You don't take the depreciation hit and the factory build issues will have been sorted out.

Any choice is a lot of money to spend. So I'd say get the boat you want, set up the way you want it, down to details like hull color. Getting a "deal" is always a good thing, but I would not let that get in the way of whatever a good decision is for YOU.

We have had a C30 sedan for a year in PNW, do not miss the CB, and would choose the sedan again even at the same price. In addition to the reasons Gavin noted (especially the look), I would add that it reduces the number of things to go wrong and to maintain. Also we boat year round and it is mostly too cold to enjoy the CB for much if any of a day, in most months.

OTOH, they do provide nice views, some potential for better docking with a helper, and more room for guests, so it really depends on your mission.

They offered me the same deal at the boat show too last year. I wanted a sedan and they told me I could have the CB for the same price.

is it an outboard boat or inboard by the way? if inboard make sure its a 435...

It's a twin 300 yamaha outboards

ah the beast! love that boat.

1. with the 600HP, the weight is not a factor.
2. you will have a huge storage space in the main cockpit as its an outboard boat. its only kayaks that will be a problem for roof space.

if you honestly dont need the roof space or mind the look than the CB for the same money is a good deal. extra set of electronics and extra space for the same money.

the thing I would want to figure out is whether the solar and no generator option is suitable for your intended cruising requirements

Actually, from what I remember looking at that model, most of the space under the cockpit deck is taken up by fuel tank, there is not a lot of room there. Need to feed those 600 horses.

that was a bad assumption on my part. 🙁

i made the statement based on looking in the cockpit of the smaller boats with outboards and seeing the gaping hole left.

the fuel tank must be enormous on this boat or least they moved it further back from the location on inboard boats.

I hadn't seen the video, but I have been out on the 302C which has the same hull as the 32. It is an interesting boat, very fast and responsive, but I felt the 30 was more stable/solid, more conducive to long distance cruising, which is what I was looking for.

I just sea trialed the C32 CB that someone was purchased and it was a really good looking boat and I felt like it handled decently. My wife also noticed some quality issues like the back seat would collapse if you sat on it the wrong way. The latch on the captain's chair window was missing. The seat had small tear in it and there was a pretty large water stain on the extra guest birth wall. Also some minor cosmetic issues that I noticed myself. We let our salesman know of the issues but I feel like it was just brushed off. Anyways I was wondering if I should be concerned about the quality issues figuring it seems like these boats are just massed produced. Also after the sea trial I felt like my back was just wrecked and in pain/ is this normal lol?

Command bridge is just plan fun!

Great place for morning coffee or evening cocktail. It's a whole nother view on things. I'll never go back to inside only. But that's just me. And I tow!

I totally understand that, the command bridge was pretty sweet. I was wondering more about the quality

Fishing is a top priority for me and that is why I have zero interest in a Command Bridge, CW or otherwise. I've caught salmon fishing solo and, while it's preferable to have others on board for netting and watching the boat, you can do that on my C302. For smaller fish, I stay in AP from the main helm and for larger fish, I move to the starboard aft command console and use the AP remote handheld. I would not want to be coming off a CB on a nice day, let alone in big swells or choppy water.

Also, for fishing and other offshore cruising, I'm a lot more comfortable with twin screws (Yamaha OBs). We sometimes need to run more than 50 miles off shore. I've lost one engine before and having to limp back to port is much better than the alternative.

I am curious at the differences between the 30 and 32 models as it's not so clear from the CW website. Best of luck with your new boat, we are quite happy with ours.

Fuel tank on the 27OB is 150 gallons and it is under the galley area, the under cockpit storage area has nothing in it. Total fuel on the C-32 is 300 gallons and has a fuel tank under the cockpit area.
