Looking to buy an American Tug in 4-5 years (Bankruptcy)...

Hi there all! We are looking to buy an American Tug or Nordic tug in the next 4-5 years for the loop. Will the bankruptcy affect the prices? Looking for a early 2000's boat with a cummins 6BTA.
 
So you’re asking what the price of a 20 year old boat will be when it turns 20 in five years?

Wow! - Thanks for the encouragement! Just the kind of advice we were hoping for! I see you are a well known member. Must be because of your legendary kindness and insight. Also your math skills are sharp. BTW, the boat will be closer to 30 years old when I get ready to pull the trigger. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
 
Happy to help. Enjoy your theoretical purchase of a non Ranger Tug sometime in the next roughly half decade. Your enthusiasm for capitalizing on the demise of an American boat builder and their thirty odd (now unemployed) employees is duly noted.
 
You've got me wrong. I am looking at the older used market from decades ago, which has nothing to do with the tragic bankruptcy news. The loss of jobs in La Conner is terrible. I'm just a guy on a budget trying to learn. I know absolutely nothing about these kind of boats and I thought Ranger Tugs were pretty cool too. I guess newcomers aren't really welcome here, so thanks for helping me figure that out early on.
 
When we were looking at boats we were interested in an Nordic tug or a American tug, We were blessed and found OUR Cutwater 30, do not be discouraged,
We looked for a year and half but persevered, and had to travel two days to look at it. Keep the faith, and The folks on this forum have always been nothing but welcoming to us, we came from sailing for over 30 years.... We had asked some dumb questions and everyone has been helpful. Hang in there!
