While fooling around looking for a fuse or breaker for the solar panel charger in the box under the aft deck sink, I noticed the loose wire in the picture below. The label indicates it has something to do with "SM High Water Alarm). Did it break off, and if so, where should it be re-connected?
Note that both the red and the yellow wire klook like they have been cut off (I didn't do it).
Thanks

I would spend time tracing the wire to see where it goes... On my 2013, at that same location, there are fuse panels. I have a fuse marked bilge alarm. Could that be the same thing? Check to see if there is a wire at that fuse. Mine is located on the top box, top left fuse. Maybe the alarm was faulty, and the previous owner had just cut the wire.

Good idea. I'll do thjat when I get back to the boat.
It sure doies look like it was cut off.
The low water alarm still works. I don't see why it would be on a fuse.
BTW, for general interest, the fuse for the solar panel I was looking for is actually right at the house batteries in the port lazaretto. The wiring diagram
does not appear to show it.
Thanks

Through all the years, wiring on a Ranger Tug has been haphazard. Not even within seeing distance of ABYC standards.
Those wire ends were cut. The question is, were they ever hooked to anything, or even intended to be hooked up.
It may be a one-size-fits-all generic harness containing wires to sensors/switches that are not used on that model boat.
Or it may be that the previous owner silenced an annoying alarm with a wire cutter.
A good question for the factory.

I agree, good guesses.
I've had trouble contacting the factory, probably because I don't know exactly how to do it. I think my problem may be with the tags at the bottom. I think 2 tags are necessary to send the question. However, the system only allows me one tag (the model R-31CB). When I try to do the date, I get an abbreviated drop down list that ends with 2009 or something like that. My boat is a 2019.
Can you (or anybody else) explain how to send my original post about the cut wires to the factory.
Thanks very much.
