I get a low coolant alarm on my 2014 R27 Volvo D3. Engine temp on the Volvo engine display shows 180F at WOT, 175F at lower RPM. Coolant level at the fill cap is about a finger length below the cap. Idea on cause? Second season on the water pump impeller. But why would it register low coolant if the impeller and high temp is indicated. Level sensor problem? Is ok be finger low too low? Other?

the volvo coolant sensors are incredibly sensitive. make sure you are actually at the right level. on mine (D4) there is a small peg near the top that the coolant needs to be at

Cutwater28CG is correct. Very sensitive. We have the same boat, same year, same engine. Coolant must be at the very top for no warning. Finger length is way too low! . I am jealous of your WOT temp!

Hey thanks! I’ll top it off and see what happens. I like those simple fixes.

I had my coolant changed recently in the D4. I had to add coolant 3 times… to the top. Mechanic explained this is normal as the engine “burps” after the coolant was changed… he flushed the system with water as well.
