Low speed valve at high speed

Well, I’m quite embarrassed but I imagine I’m not the first. Yesterday I was leaving a marina at low speed, low speed valve engaged, and then I totally forgot to change back and I think it was close to an hour of running at 2850 rpm. Do you think there is any long term concern? A few weeks ago I changed the transmission oil.

During factory orientation (C30) we were told that it would automatically switch -- actually just ignore the low speed request -- once RPMs were high enough, so it would be a non issue. I don't have it with me at the moment but perhaps the engine manual would confirm that.

I suspect that it will be a non issue for the reason that SjiSailor mentioned but I suggest having a look and a smell of the transmission oil and compare it to some new transmission oil. Because the low speed valve is controlled by software it would only be reasonable to assume that there would be an RPM shutoff to protect the transmission. If the oil smells burnt or looks very dark then you should get it changed again and maybe call the dealer.

SJI I saw your other warranty post. I’ve encountered a few problems with my 2018 C30. The roof leak I had sounds like the one you had. Warranty has taken care of most things and the boat is great. I had an R25 and a C28 prior to this and for me the C30 was the best choice for me and my family.

We installed a Yamaha low speed valve. No concerns with forgetting to disengage etc. 😀
