I realize that here in the PNW most get the NW edition, but are there any drawbacks of having the Luxury Edition? Im mostly worried about the capability of the reverse cycle heat in the winters. I do like the idea of having a generator for charging batteries when I am away for extended periods of time. Probably won't use the AC too much, but not terrible to have for the summers at the marina.

I'm asking because I'm likely to purchase a used C30 LE. Am I making a big mistake for planning to use the reverse cycle heat most of the winter?

If you want ac n a generator then it’s ok. You can always had the diesel heater in the future. I have friends in the PNW that have this arrangement. Diesel heater would run between $3,000 for a DIY job up to $5000 for an install by a professional.

I went the other way with the Northwest edition and added the A/C and reverse cycle heat upon purchase. We wanted the propane stove and diesel heat while on anchor so we wouldnt have to fire up the gen in order to cook something. We added extra solar as well. While our Honda gen is good for running the A/C there is a convenience factor of having the gen built in. When we go East for boating we would have preferred the built in gen for the A/C. We are contemplated adding the factory gen for that reason.

While we rarely use a gen in the Northwest I don’t think you would regret having it. Contrary to popular belief there have been a number of days when I have seen more than a few Ranger Tugs and Cutwaters with water streaming out the side from running their A/C.

I'm thinking of going the same route with a used C28 LE in Washington. We'd definitely need to add a diesel heater to allow anchoring out during the shoulder seasons.

Anyone have recommendations on shops here in Washington that could install a furnace that would be similar to the factory install? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to broadcast it.

Andrew Custis at Ranger Tug gave me a referral in Everett that a spoke with but unfortunately I’ve lost his information. Get ahold of Andrew for the name/phone number etc. Based on my conversation with him he’s installed the units and knows the boats of Fluid Motion.
