The macerator in my fairly-new 29S doesn't seem to be working. It has power--the pump spins--but I don't hear the expected sound a pump makes when it is working--laboring, slurps, occasional bursts followed by lulls, etc. The translucent pipe fitting coming out of the waste tank doesn't show any signs of the passage of pumped liquid, etc. Does the pump need priming?

Yes, I opened the Y-valve. Yes, I searched for this subject on Tugnuts. I can't find a macerator owner's manual in the boat's extensive mechanical/electrical/electronics library. Before I start taking things apart, I figured I'd better ask my fellow Tugnutters...

Is there stuff in the tank to pump ? Also I wonder if you were to put your hand over the hole to see if you can feel any air movement..

Are you referring to the macerator associated with the head/toilet or the macerator that pumps overboard ? Of course in WA pumping overboard is prohibited. The macerator that pumps overboard typically has a Y-valve that's either zipped tied closed or unzipped and open.
