Made 4.0 raw water pump failure

How many have had the raw water pump fail? According to the tech and Sergio it’s the pump. Good impeller hose directly to the pump with a bucket of water and it wouldn’t draw water.

If your Mase impeller on the raw water pump is more than 1 year old, replace it.

If your boat lives in salt water, clean the raw water screen and shut off valve.

Unless your sea strainer is the new larger one, replace it.

Or replace the Yanmar air cooled engine powering your generator when it next fails.

The problem wasn’t the pump. Turns out it was the small factory installed strainer. The basket was clear but there was junk caught in the input. Replace it with a small Groco raw water strainer and it seems to be working.

As I noted, the original factory sea strainer and plumbing were to small for both the generator and ac. Easy to replace.

You are right the original strainer was too small. Ongoing problem for the last two years we've owned the boat. We'll see how the rest of the season goes.
