I have searched Amazon, etc. for a magnetic screen door for my R 27 which I believe is 23" wide x 73" tall. Will this have to be a custom size and is it available from any supplier?

Thanks,
Ken

This may be dumb on my part, but aren’t our windows made of aluminum? Magnets don’t work on aluminum. But frankly I have never checked!

The ones I have seen you us velcro adhesive strips to connect the screen edges to the doors and the magnets connect the two "sides" of the screen in the middle.

I recently modified the stock full canvas door cover by cutting out most of the canvas and replacing it with screening. It was done by a boat/auto covering shop for $75. It velcros to the frame and really lets the breeze blow through the cabin. GF.

We had to have the Velcro/magnetic screen custom cut n sewn to fit the door of our R29S. I had them use the factory canvas door cover as a template.

I am finally able to contribute something on this forum/subject. I have found this magnetic screen on Amazon that works perfectly on my 2013 R 27 door : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YXYWJLQ?ps ... ct_details

You can order any custom size by selecting the width range size, 25" to 35". Then follow the order instructions by inputting your exact width and length. My size cost $ 60.00 +/- including shipping. I am very happy with the results.

Regards,
Ken

A few questions
- on the bottom of screen since there is no Velcro , how well does this enclose the bottom of the door?
- how Much longer length did you add to the bottom of the door opening.
- our opening is it not a perfect rectangle, angled on top port side of door. If yours is like this how does
The screen adhere on the angle part of the door frame?

Thanks

I will try and answer your question correctly. My door frame has 4 rounded corners. The way I installed the adhesive hook material at the corners of the door frame was to wrap the hook material around the corners to give the loop material that is sewn on the inside of the screen door a more secure fit. So the bottom of the screen has a magnet within the material like the slit that is cut down the center of the screen so the bottom magnets adhere to the door frame after you walk through screen door.

The screen door is not bullet proof for bugs but it does a very good job keeping the bugs out and I am satisfied with my purchase. I don't know of a better solution.

Ken

I have used these for some time, they are great.

Something to note is that if the bottom drags on the deck at all the magnets wont close effectively. So you shouldn’t add any length at bottom. I usually leave about an inch or so above the deck, while not perfect most insects are effectively kept out. The seam in the middle needs to be plumb (vertical) to work well.

Back in 2017, while on our loop in our 2015 R25sc, I ordered a screen door from Plisse Screen. I saw one on a fellow R25sc and it is perfect. It slides back and forth, retracting to about 2 inches or so. Again, it is perfect and changed our lives. It was kinda spendy, but, 4 years later, is still perfect. Contact Doug at doug@plissescreen.com.

Here are the details of the order.

Here are a couple of photos of the Plisse screen door on my R25sc...

We did what Jim did above using the factory supplied cover as a pattern. I just neglected to tell him the orientation so the guy put the velcro on inside out if you will. Don't make my mistake!
