Hello

I just purchased a 2017 R29LE #2927. The main cabin a/c unit does not have a drain hose connected to it. WHen the tray has water in it, the water overflows causing the surrounding wood to get moldy, marine carpet that touches the floor is discolored and moldy. The a/c unit because it sat in water for the last 3 yrs if very rusty. Is this design intent? Will Ranger Tug help resolve this issue? If not what is the best way to route hose, clean a/c unit of the rust, clean marine carpet. Also, if the a/c unit fails do to all the rusting what is the best way to remove it and replace it.

Thank you

Did you not do a survey prior to purchase? If so it should have been discovered and addressed then. Well, water over the dam or the AC pan now. With a boat that is 3 years old with a second owner it would be very kind of Ranger to remedy the situation. Perhaps they can give you direction to take care of your issue. I would try to "clean up" the pan in place as best you can and apply a coating to protect it. If there was never a hose there may be a plug still in the pan outlet that needs to be removed. I am not as familiar with the 29 so someone else can chime in. It could be as simple as running a hose to the bilge. One of the A/C units usually runs into the shower sump not sure which one. Removal of the unit would be ideal, but it won't be easy.

Sorry you are having these problems. On my boat a survey would not have found the A/C drain problem unless it affected something visible. Surveys in general do not take apart the boat for inspections. As far as the R/T factory helping with this problem it is very unlikely from my experience with them. I had a serious problem with the installation of the engine on my boat which wore out the cutlass bearing and the shaft started to ware through the stuffing box. There was no vibration while operating the boat which may have indicate an alignment problem. We found the problem while trying to repack the stuffing box. In order to correct the problem we needed to place 3/4 inch blocks under the engine to align it properly. I was lucky in that I store my boat in the winter at a facility that builds/services luxury yachts so I had the expertise avaliable to solve the problem. When I contacted the R/T factory for help they told me that any manufacturing defects are only covered in the first year and only for the original owner.

I hope you have better luck than I did. Good luck.

We have a 2018 R29S so I’m familiar with what should happen. Our cabin ac unit is behind the wall in the cave and underneath the captains dining bench. There are several drain holes that should be plugged but the one you need a hose attached to is (as you face the unit in the cave) is in the rear left corner. This hose gets routed further back to a small hole that leads down into the floor cavity in the stateroom that is accessed from the removable floor panel. The hose would then connect, it does on my boat, to the shower sump pump along with 3 other drain hoses..... the other ac unit, the shower drain and the overboard discharge. Let us know what you find.

I’m having a similar problem . So I crawled into the cave, removed panel and am looking at HOt water heater on the left and the AC with a full tray of water, on the right. How do you get access to the foward port side drain tube, on the AC, to be able to do any work ?

Thanks

Hi
I ended up running a line to the bilge from the closest left plug. Seems to me with the angle of the pan/floor the pan would never drain from the far left pan drain. I can feel a hose on the far left drain but also would like insight on how to access other than removing ac unit.

I had a similar issue. I found the one drain tube in the back. I knocked out the plugs in the other corners and routed a tubes from each corner to the existing tube in the back. It takes some time and a few scared knuckles to get everything tied in together. Not the pan will drain from 3 corners instead of one.

So I disconnected hose from shower sump pump( impossible
to reach at back of AC pan) and attached wet dry vac to hose end, it pulled all the water out from the filled AC pan. I can only hope, it was clogged and the vac sucked it out. Will check AC pan after next few uses.

Oh. Three hoses come into shower sump pump;
Port side hose= berthing AC
Mid hose = shower
Starboard Hose = Cabin AC
