The idea of a mini Rendezvous/Happy Hour/Get together was mentioned a couple of weeks ago on Tugnuts, on a different thread, for those of us in and around Marathon Florida......what a great idea. It's my understanding there are currently about 4 boats in Marathon, Lisa and I arrive mid month and there are a few more also due in February. So if you're up for something, make a reply post here or PM me with how long you'll be in Marathon, when you arrive, ideas, etc, etc and we'll put something simple together.

Jim

Jim,

Illusions and Roam anticipate arriving in Marathon on February 21st and will be staying one month

Jodi and I will be here on Irish Mist until the first of April..We were to head up to Ft Myers but have just changed our plans .

Santolina will be in Marathon until about Feb 25.

Thanks for organizing a get-together, Jim and Lisa.

I think it may be next to impossible to get us all together in a marine as they are pretty full right now... Perhaps an anchorage would be a better bet if weather permits. Unfortunatly I have not ventured very far and cannot suggest one But I will keep my eyes and ears open for a spot.

Mark and Jodi:

I was thinking more along the lines of having a get together at one of the marina's, not having folks come by boat but by car, dinghy, bus or walking. I know several Tugnuts are at Banana Bay and there will three at Blackfin the last I knew and they are right next door to each other. Where are you and or Santolina docked?

Jim F

That makes sense.. We have a nice spot at Banana Bay we could put some picnic tables together.. I'm surprised about Black Fin they told me they don't rent slips out... But it is right next door.. I have my truck and can pick up and deliver anyone with out wheels if needed .. Looking forward to a nice get together.

It looks like the 23 or 24th of Feb .. Can everyone chime in and let me know if that works... We can do a pot luck lunch or not...If I have a date I can try to secure a building here in case of bad weather. .. There is parking here for those that drive.. Unfortunatly no dockage at all here . Banana Bay Marinia 4590 Overseas Highway If someone has another spot that will work let us know But we should pick dates ASAP.
See everyone soon

Mark:

The 23rd or 24th are good dates for us as well, but not the 22nd. Looks like Roam and Illusions will be here then and a drive down from Palm Beach as well. If you get a consensus on the dates from others at Banana Bay and around I think Banana Bay would be a perfect location. Lisa and I will arrive soon and once we get settled we'll walk over to say hello.

Jim F

Looking forward to catching up

Ok so we have decided Feb 23rd is the day .. We can do a pot luck lunch in the afternoon or we can meet in the Hurricane restaurant .. They have a patio we could take over and we can order drinks and food..We are thinking the Banana Bay / Black fin area has the largest concentration of Tugs so we would do something in this area. Let us know your thoughts... As well any potential Tug Nuts are welcome to join in as well if you happen to be in the area.
Thank you
Mark

Just moving this to the front as I have not seen any replys.. February 23 and 1) do a pot luck of snacks and BYOB at Banana Bay Marinia or 2) meet at a restraint/ bar ( The Hurricane ) where we can order snacks and drinks as needed .. Let me know which option is preferable
Thanks
Mark your

Lisa and I vote for a Pot Luck at Banana Bay.....more chance to interact with our fellow Tugnutters with the added bonus of being able to watch the sunset....that's just us thou. What do others think?

Jim F

Thanks Jim
Option #3
Cathy and Greg on Santolina had said that they may be able to book a room for us at Marathon Marinia.. If we want sunsets they have that covered very well being on the Atlantic side. .. I do agree it would be better not in a restaurant but I wanted to give more choices to complicate the decision making 🙂 There are other tugs in the area , we saw one yesterday.. Couldn't catch the name but all are welcome to join us when we decide on a Venu
Thank you
Mark
PS we do have transportation to get to Marathon

The 23rd works best for us, too. (We are leaving Feb 25.) A potluck at Banana Bay sounds great. As a back-up, we checked with our marina (Marathon Marina) on the oceanside and its Captains Lounge and patio are available for a get-together. We realize transportation to here would be an issue. We and Irist Mist can shuttle folks via truck from Banana Bay and Blackfin.
Dom and Caroline (Poppy, R25) should be back in Marathon from the FL rendezvous. They live next door to our marina and also have transportation.

As Mark mentioned, being on the oceanside we get to watch terrific sunsets by the marina pool. All are welcome to come any time and enjoy a swim and the view. Just let us know when you'd be coming so we can get you through the secured gate. (903.931.3903)

Man, you guys have to stop posting to this thread!

Every time it pops up to the top of the recent list, I see "Marathon Happy Hour" and think - oh, wow, what I cool idea, but I'm not sure I'd last very long!......

:? :? :?

Very good Ray 🙂

Okay, just so I can get my calendar in order. Are we set for Banana Bay potluck dinner? Cocktails at 5:00?
