Hi all!
This afternoon I sent an email to everyone that's currently registered for the big Ranger Tugs & Cutwater Boats Rendezvous coming up in September. I'm posting a copy of it here also in case anyone missed it. Here is a link to download the documents that I mention below: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/576foxgcq1qwwfu/AAAAAyriXyBwID0sRJPof4q6a?dl=0
If you email me regarding the President's Club I will get back to you early next week as I'll be out of reach this weekend.
Thanks and have a great weekend! 😀

The big Ranger Tugs & Cutwater Boats Factory Rendezvous is right around the corner! We’ve been working hard to make this the most fun and memorable Rendezvous yet! I have included some important updates and information about the event in this email. It’s a bit long but please read it in its entirety because it contains some good tips.
• The President’s Club: As I write this letter we have over 170 boats scheduled to be on the dock at Roche Harbor! We are excited to announce that the marina has opened a new section of their dock to us this year! We are calling this new section, “The President’s Club”. Ranger Tugs & Cutwater Boats President, John Livingston and Vice President, Jeff Messmer will be both be med-tying here (hence the name, President’s Club). We will be using the linear side of C-dock (see map) to med-tie (see diagram). So, if you want to be in the mix with the top brass, this is the spot to be. If that’s not enough incentive, just to make sure we start this tradition off the right way; anyone that stays in the President’s Club will receive priority customer service and technical assistance. There will be a dedicated customer service station and technician available for anyone docked in the President’s Club. You will also get an extra surprise gift and be eligible for daily drawings for free moorage!
Med-mooring (or tying) is common practice in much of the world outside of the Pacific NW. I’ve attached a simple diagram to illustrate what a med-tie looks like. It’s not difficult and does not require the use of an anchor. Roche Harbor will have dock staff available to help you in and out of your spot, get you tied up, and will move your dinghy to the nearby dinghy dock for you when you arrive. There will be plenty of power and water for everyone. We only have 30 spots available in the President’s Club. Everyone who docks in the President’s club this year will be a Charter Member. We know this is going to add a fun, new dimension to the rendezvous! Please email sambisset@rangertugs.com ASAP to reserve your spot.
• Theme: The theme of this year's rendezvous is Margaritaville. Think; palm trees, flamingos, surf boards, sun, flip flops, oh, and margaritas! The main event at this year's rendezvous will be Saturday's happy hour and dinner on the seaside lawn starting at 4pm. We will have a steel drum band, photo booth, appetizers, and margaritas. Wear your Margaritaville getup to the happy hour because that's when we’ll be judging for the costume contest! We will have a fun awards presentation during dinner including an award for best decorated boat so come prepared! Boat decorations will be judged during the day on Saturday.
• Crab/Fishing License: Make sure you pack your crab traps and bait because this year we’ve partnered with Fisheries Supply to present a “San Juan Crabbing 101” seminar and derby (see schedule)! We will share the full derby rules at the seminar on Friday morning but be sure to get a license if you’d like to participate. You can buy a license at the store in Roche Harbor if you don’t have time to get one before you come to the rendezvous. Fisheries Supply will have ten crab traps available for use during the derby. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be given out as prizes after the derby! The Salmon derby is on again this year, so don’t forget your rods and downriggers. We will have more details on both events at the seminar and in the registration booth.
• Boats for Sale: We’ve had a few questions regarding Roche Harbor’s policy on displaying “for sale” signs on their boat. Roche Harbor asks that you do not display for sale signs while at their marina.
• Engine Seminars: We will be hosting two basic engine maintenance seminars this year. One for Volvo Penta diesel engines and one for Yamaha outboard engines. Anyone is welcome to attend these seminars. We will have engines on display for you to inspect. Please bring your engine owner’s manual, pad of paper, and writing utensil. After each seminar there will be a question and answer session. No need to register, just show up!
• Coast Guard Vessel Exams: David Tribolet, (San Juan Islands Detachment Leader, Flotilla 11, District 13, USCG Auxiliary) will have his dedicated team of volunteers on the dock Saturday to perform complimentary Vessel Safety Checks again this year. David will also give a brief overview of the program a 9:00am on Saturday morning (see schedule). You will sign up for your VSC at the registration booth during registration. Here is more info on VSC: http://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?uni ... fety-check
• Ranger Tugs/Cutwater Boats Got Talent: There is nothing like spending time with friends (new and old) around a campfire listening to music. We know that there are many Ranger Tug and Cutwater Boat owners that cruise with musical instruments on board. Now is the time to break them out! Bring your instrument over to the fire pits on the seaside lawn for some jamming, singing, and fun. Bring whatever you have and be ready to have fun. If you don’t play and instrument, just come listen! We will start after dinner at about 8:00pm on Saturday.
• Docking Requests: Docking is on a first-come, first-serve basis for this event. Roche Harbor has told us they will do what they can to accommodate special requests but outside of requests due to medical conditions, they cannot make any promises.
• Arriving at the Marina: When you arrive in the harbor please wait outside of the marina while you hail in for a slip assignment. This reduces congestion while folks are navigating to their slips. Please include your boat model when you radio in and be sure to let them know if you have an outboard engine. Roche Harbor Marina can be reached on VHF 78A. By the time you get to your slip there should be a dock attendant there to catch your lines.
We recommend dropping your dinghy in the harbor and towing it in, or dropping it as soon as you get to your slip. This makes your dinghy available as a fun way to explore the marina or to get back and forth to dinner. Not to mention the blindfolded inflatable dinghy race!! We have some great prizes this year so you won’t want to miss it.
• Restaurant Reservations: If you are planning to eat at McMillian’s Dining Room at any point during your stay at Roche Harbor, they recommend making reservations asap. Please keep in mind that we are serving heavy appetizers on Thursday afternoon and full meals on both Friday and Saturday afternoon/evenings.
• Insurance Declarations Page: Global Marine Insurance is a major partner in presenting the rendezvous again this year. Bring your policy declarations page to the welcome tent (see schedule) for a detailed explanation of your policy or to ask any questions about your current coverage.
