Not familiar with area ,but hope to keep boat for season, and find a marina to fish out of. Coming from NE . PA . So closer is better ,but good fishing is most important. Will be camping in truck Camper or on boat for extended weekends. This is for 2017 season, will research and take a drive up to look at suggestions. How far out to catch good eating fish? Now we have a 23ft C-Dory ,but have decided to eventually get a 25 Ranger SC when we can. This season boating on Lake Erie ,fishing for perch and walleye, first season there with a slip. Thanks for any suggestions. Larry.

If you want to be closer to PA think about keeping the boat in Rhode Island. The North end of Point Judith Pond has a few nice marina's that would work for you. The RI shore line offers good fishing for striped bass, blues, fluke, black sea bass. Easy ride out to Block Island where you can fish the famous SW Ledge for trophy stripers. This location is also close to CT and NY, to the East you can get to Cuttyhunk and Martha's Vineyard MA. Narragansett Bay is a great cruising area. If you need more specifics let me know.

I should have included that a yearly RI non-resident saltwater fishing license is $10.00. The license is reciprocal with MA, CT and NY so for 10 bucks you can fish 4 states.

Thanks for suggestions, im guessing cod and haddock are found north more not familiar with these states fisheries ,thanks

Some of the best fishing in RI and closer than the Cape. Striped Bass, fluke, sea bass galore. You have Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Montauk, Long Island all within shooting distance. I kept my boat last year at Stone Cove Marina

It is a little bit of a ride (about 25 minutes) to the breakwater at Point Judith, but everything you need is within a couple of miles, West marine, groceries, Hardware etc. The staff is accommodating. They have a ramp to launch and floating docks. There is a coffee house right there and a great restaurant that you can walk to. You better call any place you may be interested in now if you want a spot for the season.

Thanks for the marina info.
