Marinas, Parking, and Other Tips for Lower Columbia

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for tips for spending a week on the lower Columbia. We are heading down with our R27-OB from Spokane on Friday, and hoping to launch and moor near Washougal (going to the MX race on the 28th).

My first challenge is to figure out what to do with the pickup and trailer for a week. Also finding guest moorage near Vancouver/Washougal for the first three nights.

Other than that, it would be nice to get suggestions regarding marinas having guest moorage, both upstream and downstream of Portland. We have yet to anchor overnight, although we may try it if we find the right place.

Hi Dan, one helpful resource is a River Cruising Atlas (Columbia, Willamette, Snake Rivers, by Evergreen Publishing. You can pick it up on Amazon. It has a lot of info in the charts. If you are on the Columbia, it is a good thing to have.
We are looking at Guiding a Cruise on the Columbia in 2019, and are always looking for other peoples opinions on the anchorages and marinas, so please pass on any feedback you have once you are on the river.

Hi Dan
Last year we launched at Scappoose Inlet, good ramp lots of parking. City of St Helens has a free overnite dock w power. We also stayed at cathlamet, chill place not alot to do. watch your wx, tides & current heading to astoria. 🙂
