Marinco spotlight control panel power source?

My 2014 C28 has a Marinco spotlight, with a wireless remote mounted on the helm panel. The power wires were not installed cleanly and looks like they had shorted at one point, there is no 12V there. They seem to run under the console on the stbd side, not to the fuse blocks in the head enclosure. The fuse labeled spot light under the power distribution center has power coming out, so it's not clear where the power line to the control panel is connected. It's not shown on the schematic. The wire coming off the spotlight fuse is orange, the one going to the control panel is red, with a black ground.
 
On my boat the spot is powered through the running light switch. The running lights need to be on for the remote to be powered and the spot. The running light switch has a breaker reset at the switch. Not sure if this helps, but good luck.
