I rarely deviate from factory OEM products to save money since I learned the hard way too many times, like knock off HP Ink cartridges...picture ink everywhere. Sometimes it's hard to order correctly since companies label their products with the OEM name, Yamaha in this case. Hence, I ordered knock-offs from Martyr thinking they were Yamaha...well, because they said they were in big letters. Doing a quick search, I found nothing negative about Martyr and plan to use them. Also, I'm going to move to all aluminum since I'm 100% salty and it sounds like AL lasts longer. Seems like a good topic to share since we all need lots of anodes.

I personally would use only aluminum anodes with outboards. Zinc anodes and aluminum lower units is not a good mix. Many think that protecting aluminum with aluminum is not correct. The aluminum anodes are a special alloy designed to protect aluminum lower units. Martyr advertises that they manufacture anodes used by Yamaha. True or false I don’t know. I would use them.
