Hey all! We have been working up a deal on a beautiful 2014 Cutwater 26. As part of the deal the dealership was going to install a generator, radar and inverter. We paid our deposit, did a sea trial, lined up and inspection and were ready to go. Then I got the dreaded phone call that they couldn't seem to find a place to get the generator from! Something to do with new emissions standards or something? Ugh.

Does anyone happen to know where a Mase 2.7 could be purchased? Without a generator we are going to have to pass on the purchase of this boat and start our search over again.

Thanks!

Is the stove electric or propane? As I always say everyone has different preferences. If you look at many boats with generators the hours used is quite low. Do you really need one? Been boating for quite a few years and with having an inverter I can't say that I don't have a need for a generator. One less item to maintain and more storage room. If your stove is propane you are golden. You may want to reconsider.

I dealt with the importer:

Mase Generators of North America LLC
3125 John P Curci Dr #6, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009, USA

They are helpful, friendly and understanding.

I know nothing about EPA restrictions on this generator - it uses a one cylinder Yanmar and seems to work without excessive smoking.

If you pass on the C-26, please let me know. I've been trying to trade my R-25 for a C-26 and think this was one of the boats I bid on - but, like a prom date, the dealer held out for a better buyer. I don't mind being second best if you pass.

Good luck with your C-26, Mase offered to install the generator on the C-26 for me if I could talk the dealer into selling it to me. You might check with them, I'm sure they would sell you one and put it in your boat.

Electric. It's definitely a preference thing. Our current boat (24' Sea Ray Sundancer) doesn't have a generator either and we feel it limits us a bit. We are looking for a change of boating style and feel that with a generator we can have a lot of comforts at anchor (and while underway on those really hot/humid days we get here), like AC.

Thanks! I will definitely reach out to them and see what they say, and will let you know if we pass on this particular boat. Was it the one in Grasonville, MD? 😀

I believe this is one of the boats we looked at. We have a 25 Ranger with a generator and air conditioning and we love the boat but I find it a bit difficult to get it out of the bunk at our age.

We were looking to trade our Ranger and some money for the boat you're looking at. I don't think the dealer was interested in a boat for trade. But if you decide to pass on the Cutwater and want to very similar boat with a generator, we would be happy to buy the boat you're looking at and sell you ours.

If you think you would only use the generator a several days each season you might consider a portable generator instead. We have a Honda 2000 for use in my hanger and may take it on the boat when we plan to stay on hook in one place for several days at a time. It's small and quiet. Doesn't add extra weight to the boat when not needed and seems simple to use. I don't have a/c to power. Nor do I have a solar panel to help keep the batteries full. The Honda seems to have enough power to cover most everything besides an a/c - including our small tabletop microwave. Well, maybe not everything else all at once that is!

We did consider this option, but as knotflying said, it wouldn't power the A/C which is a big deal for us. I always say that big guys and heat don't mix... at least with this big guy!

Stu - We are going to pass on the 26 and probably go with a new 28 instead. Let me know if you would like me to make an introduction about the 26. I would be happy to do so. We had done a sea trial prior to finding out they wouldn't be able to get the generator and everything went well. I tried to send you a PM but I'm not sure it went through since I'm still a fairly new member here.

We have 2015 SC25, the Honda 2000 will run the A/C with all other items off on breaker including the battery charger. Already had Honda 2000 set up with 30 amp for RV

Guess I didn't realize adding a generator after the fact was even feasible/practical. We have a honda 2000 and love it. Still thinking of getting a gen with a CW 28 anyway as we anchor a lot and looking more as the convenience aspect and to run A/C for east coast and southwest travels. If it is feasible then we might consider a one or two year old boat vs. new if that is the only thing missing although suspect we will end up new anyway.

Eric, Please point me to the C26 for sale. Tnx
