Mase Generator Heat Exchanger Leak

I have a leak on the Mase 2.5 generator's heat exchanger on my 2010 25SC as shown in the pics. I ordered a new one from Mase in Fl for the price of $214.82 + shipping. I spoke with Sergio who advised not to run it this way as more damage could be caused by the leaking salt water. He said a cause of this is usually because the zinc has not being changed. I check and replace that zinc as necessary at least twice a season. The heat exchanger is made of nickel/copper, Sergio had doubts about it being able to be repaired.
In the future I will be checking this zinc monthly. If you have a generator make sure you are checking the condition of your zinc.

The new heat exchanger arrived and I got it installed today. It is held on by 2 5mm allen head bolts and of course the one on the port side was difficult to access. (bolt on port side is longer than inboard bolt as it also holds another part) I removed two bolts holding the genset down, removed the exhaust hose so I could move the whole assembly away from the port side and was able to remove the bolt. Installed the new exchanger and re-installed everything, fairly easy job. Upon examining the old one I found pieces of old zinc and chunks of salt in the zinc anode hole. My $230.00 lesson is to flush the system with fresh water as soon as practical with every use and inspect/replace the zinc more frequently. I will also give it a treatment of salt away periodically.
