Hi.
I have an issue with my Generator lugging down and dying. In speaking with Sergio of Mase NA in Miami he explained that the genset has a 2 micron fuel screen attached to the bottom of the fuel pump inside the sound shield. Since the Racor primary filter for the generator has been replaced and is clean, this seems the likely culprit. OK, I get that, now.... how do I get to it?
My boat is a 2014 Cutwater 26. I bought it new in Tampa two years ago. I use it, a lot. The Volvo has 780 hours on it and the Mase has 460 hours.
It is ridiculously tight in the front of the Genset. I can't even fit my arm down between the forward edge and the sound shielding. I think that it would actually be easier to by-pass the old pump and install a new one on a bulkhead. However, sooner or later that raw water pump belt is going to need a replacement and I'm going to have to get in there. Short of pulling the whole unit, what can you suggest?

Sounds like you will have to take the genset out to access the front.
I had a similar problem on mine, but in the R27 there is enough room to remove the front panel and access the pump. Mine turned out to be a failed electric fuel pump, Mase NA sent me a replacement under warranty.
Before assuming the screen is blocked make sure there is no other fuel restriction. Andrew at Ranger Tugs had me run a hose into a jug of clean diesel fuel to eliminate the fuel tank pickup, fuel lines, and racor filter as possible issues.

Good luck,
Howard

Hey Howard.
Thanks for your post. Could you tell me if you have a ProNautic batt charger directly in front of and above the front of the Genset?

Bruce,

The R27 has a different layout. The Mase is in the port side cockpit locker, the battery charger is in the starboard locker.
