The raw water pump in my Mase IS 2.7 developed a leak at the shaft. It was dripping from the weep opening between the pump chamber and bearings. I called Mase North America and talked to Sergio who said I needed to replace the shaft seal. This is a $6 part with $10 shipping from Mase. It turned out to be a fairly easy job. I removed the pump and brought it home so I could use my workbench and vice. I removed the cover, pulled out the impeller, and removed the cam. The wear plate then comes right out and you can see the shaft lip seal. I was able to remove the lip seal by grabbing it with a pair of hemostats and slowly working it out by pulling on alternate sides. I cleaned out the bore and covered the end of the shaft with tape to protect the new seal from getting cut by the impeller drive slot. I lubed the new seal with some dish soap and pressed it into place with an appropriate sized deep socket, reassembled, (the impeller was just replaced and still brand new) and reinstalled on the genset.
No leaks, I can use the air conditioning again while underway!
I have since searched and learned that the lip seal is a common part available from many sources. It is a Johnson 0.2233.010 Lip Seal for the F35B-8 pedestal impeller pump.
