We recently bought a 2011 Ranger 25 SC. We are experiencing engine vibration at mid speed range. Our boat has a 150 Yanmar engine with 550 hours. Could anyone recommend a good mechanic (preferably one who could come to our home) in the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area in SW Florida. The boat is on a lift.

If it's a rattling sound it could be loose beauty cover. Check that all beauty cover bolts are secured tightly. I had this issue and at around 1800 RPM there was this nasty rattle. When RPM was reduced or increased from 1800 the rattle sound stopped.

I would open the engine hatch while underway when it is safe to do so and observe the engine. Pay particular attention to the engine mounts. You could have a broken mount or perhaps one is loose.

As per Brian, if you did not hit anything with the prop then I would check the engine mounts and engine alignment. If it is on a lift the prop should be visible so I assume you checked it to make sure nothing is wrapped around it and it shows no signs of a strike. I would also grab it and see if there is any play. There should be very little to none. If there is then you could have a worn cutless bearing and with such few hours this is often do to misalignment.
