Bob: My gun flares expire Sep 2012... should I buy new ones for the CG Inspection ? Seems like I should... 🙂

You don't need new flares, the ones you have are good for the inspection, they might tell you to get new ones in September. You might win the new ones at the drawing.
Bob

Moondance will arrive on Friday and depart on Monday. We hope to have our certificate before we arrive - the USCG Auxiliary will be at our Marina this weekend.

Thanks,

Bruce

Thanks Bruce,
Nita and I are looking forward to seeing you and Vickie there.
Bob

Welcome home Bob - We would like to have an inspection for BobKat also. Thank you!

Hi,

Gus (the Labrador Retriever) and I plan to come Friday and will be leaving Tuesday.

Please add me to the list for the inspection and I will plan to have the boat numbers from the Documentation certificate affixed to the hull somehow by then.

Thanks so much for all the work you and Nita are doing for this event! I am really looking forward to the gathering!

Anne Cox

Bob: Laxey was CG inspected today and was given a pass and a 2012 sticker. 🙂 so will not need CG inspection at Fisherman's Terminal... Thanks.

Barry,
I talked to Shilshole and this is the latest: don't tie up at the fuel dock, their fee is the same as short term moorage ($0.25 a foot). We can meet at the launching ramp if you call me about 30 minutes before you arrive. I will call Ray's boat house and ask them if we can use their dock for a meeting place for those coming from the South. I will give an update after I talk with them.
Bob

Bob: If I'm reading the map correctly, the launching ramps are at the north end of Shilshole marina, right ?

Barry,
The launch site is at the North end of Shilshole. We are trying to get permission to use the fuel dock for boarding boats, I will let you know.

Thanks... BTW... My son-in-law has loaned me two 50 foot docking lines so I'm set and will not need to loan yours. 🙂

Also, did you note above that Laxey was given a clean bill of health by the USCG this past weekend... so will not need the USCG inspection at Fisherman's Terminal meet. Thanks for the effort/offer though. The one aspect of my inspection during the discussion period was the mention of always making one's cruising itinerary known to a landlubber such as a family member... much like a hiker does when setting off from the trail head... leaves a note saying where they're hiking to and for how long it is estimated to take etc. I'm a little remiss on this item... 😉

Also... note that we will arrive on Friday May 25th and not Thursday as you've got us on your schedule above.

I talked with Ray at Fisherman's Terminal today and he told me we can use dock "X" next to the launch ramp, not part of, at Shilshole for meeting and boarding boats for the lock transition. I hope this helps for those who would like assistance in the transition. My cell phone number is (260) 932-2450, call me about 30 minutes before you arrive and we will be there to greet you.
Bob

Righty... Dock X it is. Thanks 🙂

I note that free "Locking Through" classes are provided in the visitor center theater...

Free Locking Through program

Second and fourth Wednesdays April through September at 7 p.m.

Join us to learn how to successfully transit our locks. Conquer your fears and make locking through an enjoyable experience.

If I have the time on Wed May 23rd I might just go, not only for the class but to take a good look at the locks. Last time I was at the locks as a visitor was maybe 32 years ago and I suspect things have changed over this time period. 😉

Mini Cruise Update

Nita and I will be leaving Anacortes Tuesday for Seattle. Our travel plans include cruising to Blake Island Tuesday, Wednesday we will be at Bell Harbor, and Thursday we will arrive at Fisherman’s Terminal. If any of you would like to join us, please do so.

Schedule:

We have scheduled key events during the time we have together.

Friday:
Potluck on the dock. Bring something to share plus BYOB (in a discrete container).

Saturday:
In the morning (around 10:00am) Nita and I will share with you key sights to see on Lake Union and Lake Washington. We will provide you with a map and a fun sunny day to explore the area.

There will be a BBQ that evening. (We need another boat to help cook the meat as we cannot cook on the dock. Please let us know if you are willing to be a chef too!) We will provide hotdogs, hamburgers, vegi burgers plus buns and all of the condiments. Please bring one of the following to complement the menu: appetizer, salad, dessert, or anything else you want to bring. Also, please bring your own silverware, plates, and napkins. Please bring your favorite beverage, but remember Fisherman’s Terminal does not allow alcohol in a noticeable container on the dock so paper cups, coffee mugs will be needed.

Saturday evening will be the drawing for the many prizes we have accumulated from various vendors.

Sunday:
You are on your own to explore the area.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be at Fisherman’s Terminal Sunday afternoon for boat inspection. This will entitle you to a certificate for 2012.

“Get Storganized” with Boater’s Pal will be at the terminal Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m. Theo Mittet will have many samples of containers/brackets that can be used for storage.

Dinner is provided by “Destiny” David and Maureen Baker. They have graciously offered to serve salads, pulled pork, and dessert. You only need to bring silverware, plates, napkins, and BYOB.

King Canvas will not be attending the event due to previous commitments. They have graciously offered a $150 gift certificate that can be redeemed for canvas products so this will be included in the drawing Saturday night.

Should you need to contact either Nita or myself, please call our cell phones.

Bob: 206-932-2450
Nita: 206-817-8506

We look forward to seeing everyone at Fisherman’s Terminal.

Bob and Nita

Great update... Friday's weather is looking good. 😀

The advance contingent of Fisherman's Terminal Cruisers arrived today. Bob and Nita Nellie Too, Herb and Willie Willies Tug, David Destiny, Craig and Kathy Salish Rover. 80 percent showers turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Facilities here are great, the Harbor Master Ray is working hard to welcome us.

Would it be possible to drop by on Sunday and have our boat inspected? If so, what time should we be there? Please let us know so we can plan to be there.

Thanks,

Claire and Richard

Hey, save us a slip/spot. We leave Edmonds around 10am tomorrow and should be down there by noon time after the Lockthrough with Bob onboard. Will stop at Shilshole Dock X to pickup Bob... 🙂 Weather forecast shows excellent for Friday/Saturday. 😀 Seems like the wind was running at 14 mph from the north today.

See yer....

Great trip up from Gig Harbor, the weather couldn't have been much better. No rain, beautiful skies with a bit of a head wind all the way. Took our time, and did a 6 knot cruise across the Seattle waterfront.

We met and picked-up Bob at the Shilshole fuel dock (Dock H) and headed out for our 1st adventure through the locks. It went great, Bob is great teacher and mariner, couldn't have been better.

We were met at Fishermen's Terminal by the whole gang (Nita, Willie, Herb, Jake, and Dave). What a great facility, if you aren't headed here you should be. After giving the Rover a very quick rinse, we headed off to Chinook's for dinner.

You have to try the Cooper River cooked on the Alderwood plank--A true award winner.

All in all--A great Day !!!
