Mini Cruise to Fisherman's Terminal - May 26 thru 28th

We'll be heading your way in about an hour, as soon as we get pass the cats who are blocking the door. Got to love it when a high pressure moves in and cancels out the small craft warning!

Cheers,

Bruce

Cllaire and Roger,
Please come around 3 p.m. and enjoy the company. The Coast Guard will be here in the afternoon on Sunday so actually any time will work. Also plan on staying for dinner. We have lots of food.

Please give us a call on my cell (206) 817-8506 just before you enter the locks so I can give you a slip assignment.

Nita

The sun is shining, there is not a cloud in the sky and the wind is calm this early Saturday morn. We have eight boats all tucked in their slips ready for today's adventure in fresh water. We have three boats coming today and we have slips for more boats if you change your mind. Just give us a call on 206-817-8506.

Yesterday we received a tour of Fisherman's Terminal by the manager Ray Giometti. This is a working marina full of fishing boats getting ready for their trip to Alaska. They are painting their boats, repairing their fishing nets in the net yard, and anything else in preparation for the fishing season. Very interesting and very different from a recreational marina.

We are enjoying ourselves.

What a great get together of friends, new and old. The facility here at Fisherman's Terminal is first class with 4 different eateries to choose from. Friendly staff. Wide docks for potlucks. Bob and Nita could not have been better hosts and organizers. Thank You both for a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. This may become and annual affair. That is if you are up to it, as I know it was a lot of hard work for you. Boats are leaving one by one and going their separate ways. Willie's Tug will leave shortly heading for Blake Island before returning to Anacortes in a another day or so.

Thanks bob, Nita, David and Maureen... We had a wonderful time and would do it all over again for sure.

The Fisherman's Terminal is a great place to be for a few days and so much to see all around.

We were pleased to get out onto Lake Washington on Sat & Sun.

We left at around 11am today and was hoping to lock through the small lock. I was waiting to be waved in when the light turned green thinking that was the polite thing to do but alas other boats simply pushed ahead of us and we were left behind with no room left. So we had to go around and go into the big lock and plead with the lock person to raft as he wanted us on the wall... Gill could not handle the 50 foot line drill. They got the message and we rafted to a big 60 footer and put as many fenders out as we could. It all worked out and thank goodness for the thrusters.

We got going into salt water at around 1pm... So it took us 90 mins to get through the locks. The bonus is that we now have locked through using the small AND big lock.

We got back to Edmonds at around 2:15pm.

It was great meeting up with everybody... And we look forward doing it again.

Our WHFT Jake now has 4 sea legs. He did very well on his first sea going venture... But is now wanting to have his sister Chloe to tell his travel story to. 😉

We hope everybody made it to their next destination safely.

Thanks again for memorable weekend.

We made it home safe and sound. Bob brought the "Nellie Too" home arriving at Skyline around 3 p.m. I cruised home shopping all the way and make it in time to meet Bob and unload the boat.

We want to thank everyone for coming and yes, this may become an annual event. We ended up having 11 boats and Fred and Diana of "Sunrise" visited us Sunday afternoon.

A special thanks goes to everyone who volunteered to help, the chefs, Craig Wilson and Bruce Moore for volunteering their BBQ to cook hotdogs and hamburgers, and David and Maureen for furnishing all the food Sunday evening.

Good to hear many of you are home safely. Gus and I walked the docks checking out the remaining fishing boats, particularly the largest ones, hoping fishing will be good for all these boats.

Yes, this gathering was delightful and thanks to Bob and Nita as well as David and Maureen, and the cooks as well as everyone! A special thanks to Bob and David who helped me with various items I was challenged with, including how to use some items on Cascadia.

I plan to leave tomorrow, Tuesday, and have a clear list of "to-do" items that is so much smaller than when I arrived. It is very liberating to have many questions answered and a better understanding of how things work and a better sense of storage options.

Looking forward to more times together on the water!

Your friend the Canadian goose was sitting on your dock waiting for you to return. It looked very sad. 😱

It sounds like many of you would like to do this again. I was very concerned many of you would be disappointed with the facility and the planned activities, but it appears there are no negatives. I guess I would like some input as to what could be done better and any additional suggested activities.
Happy boating season and we hope to see many of you around the area.

Suggestion: We were lucky with the weather... however, a Plan B for the dock activities would be good to have in hand in case of rain etc... and I'm not sure how that would/could be handled unless one of the very large tour boats I saw about allowed us onto their boat's inside lounge decks... 🙂 ...as an aside, how does this aspect get handled for the Bremerton meeting as much of the activities are held on the dock(s) ?

Gus and I left Fisherman's Wharf at 1:00 and got thru the small lock and out at 1:30. The fellow working was very helpful and I was able to tie stern and bow then reverse the untying order when we were through the water exchange.

It was another good experience with this great boat.

Now we are cruising along using autopilot approaching the Edmonds area. Such a great day to be on the water and recalling happy memories of our gathering🙂

Anne: Glad you made it through the small lock without much ado all on your lonesome... 🙂 The lock personnel are truly helpful from my own experience yesterday.

Yea... autopilot is a `must have' option IMO, and I use mine all the time when on a long stretch of water. Mind you, you still need to be mindful of what's ahead as dead heads lurk about in the Puget Sound... but I've not seen any for a while now...

On a side note... have you reviewed Andrew Custis's YANMAR engine oil line advisory note... as I believe you have a Yanmar 4BY2 150 engine ?

Hi Barry,

My Yanmar is 2012 and therefore not on the list, fortunately.

Re autopilot, I find the screen difficult to see, just as the Yanmar gauge. I was pushing buttons and now the screen is so dark I cannot read it. One of these days I need to stop experimenting with buttons while driving when I cannot read the screen!

I am off Gedney now in perfectly flat water. No following seas to surf as we had Friday!

Nice to see you and Jill and everyone this weekend. I'll watch for you on the water when you get the oil line fixed!

Anne

A big thanks go to Bob & Nita and Dave & Maureen for your wonderful hospitality and food. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!

We absolutely second the thanks! We had a great time.

What made it great was our friends like you. Nita and I had a ball.
See you on the seas.
