mmsi numbers

i have both a handheld and a fixed marine radio on my boat, do i need separate mmsi numbers for each device or use one common number

If the primary use of the handheld will be on your vessel, then you would input the MMSI from your vessel into both.

Alternatively if you have a registered dinghy or liferaft and intend to use the handheld primary on that craft, then you could apply for an MMSI for that craft and put that new number into the handheld.
