MMSI # VHF radio /Chartplotter hookup

Question.....How tough is it to hook up my 2016 model year Garmin 7612 to my Garmin VHF 200 radio?

I just got my MMSI number. Possible that they are already joined wirelessly? OR do i need to hardwire ?

Bill,

You should be able to connect your two Garmin items thru the Garmin network or N2k.

Is the Garmin Radio NMEA 0183? If so the thread referenced would easily work but note that the radio in the thread is a Standard Horizon.

Our Standard Horizon VHF stopped receiving 2 years ago mid-cruise and I ended up getting a new Standard Horizon GX2200 VHF/DSC/GPS/AIS in Ganges that plugged right in to the old spot and connectors for $199 CAD after rebate. More expensive that trying to connect the wires to the Garmin Chartplotter (ours is a 5212) to get GPS data to the VHF but another way to do it.
