Hi All,

I bought a chart plotter for my 21EC last year that also included a depth transducer. I haven't yet installed the transducer. The mounting hardware is completely oriented toward a transom location. Question: will the prop wash mess up the depth readings? I know that directly behind he prop would not be a good idea, but would near one corner of the stern work? How rapidly does the prop wash expand sideways behind the boat? I assume it forms some sort of cone that gets wider the further back you go. Do any of you have an inboard with a transom mounted Xducer that works OK?

Thanks

Larry

Larry, I can't answer your question but you may want to rethink your decision to mount that type of transducer. You are going to have to drill two holes for the mount and one for the cable, in a location that may not work as planned, and a area that is is hard to get to from the cockpit area if your R-21 is built like mine which I'm sure it is. Why not drill one hole and install a thru hull, or replace old one with a new in hull.
This is just my thoughts, best of luck! Bob
