Subject: Moving from slip U26 to slip E32 today at Port Of Edmonds
Today I've decided to move from a 28-foot covered slip to a 30-foot covered and wider slip. This will be from slip U-26 to slip E-32. The E-32 will provide me with a bow in starboard tie which is what I've wanted since being assigned U-26 that required me to stern in to have a starboard tie.
The Fairway between the south side of E dock and the north side of D dock is also wider. 😀
One of the advantages I'll have in slip E-32 is that I can now have my Yamaha F300 engine raised while its moored. In slip U-26 being stern in and being it was a 28-foot slip I had to keep the engine submerged otherwise my bow would be sticking out into the fairway too much and could be subject to a ticket from the Marina. This 2018 R-27/OB is some 31.5 feet long with the engine raised. The marina does allow a little overhang when outboards are raised so I should be in compliance. 😱 My only concern about having the engine raised and sticking out some into the fairway is that it's prime for being swiped/hit by passing boats. This was the case for a friend over at Kingston who had his R-23's engine swiped/hit by a passing sailboat which resulted in having the lower end of the F200 being replaced. Not a good thing to happen. I just hope if someone hits my F300 while I'm away from the boat that they leave a note with their contact info. I'm told that some boaters fail to honor this notification behavior.... 🙁 Here's hoping this issue does not happen for me.
I see there are a number of other Ranger Tugs on E and the adjacent D dock (also on the C dock as well) so I'm now going to be with some kindred spirits.
