My delivery experience so far...

I noticed in your picture of storage in your shop a MacGregor sailboat parked in there too. I sold my Mac 26X to get a Ranger 25 Classic. A natural progression from one to the other, I guess. Enjoy.

Yes, I have yet to try to sell my sailboat. It's kinda fun to take out, but it's alot of work. Last time I took it out, I fell off the deck onto the ground trying to take the mast down. That was the end of that.

You'll also notice a Yamaha 242 Limited S jet boat. It's really sweet and in prime condition, but alas, she also must go. Nobody wants to ski or tube these days, so I'm just going to get rid of it.

Just to clarify, from the FCC website, for recreational vessels:
You do not need a license to use marine VHF radios, any type of EPIRB, any type of radar, GPS or LORAN receivers, depth finders, CB radio, or amateur radio (an amateur license is required). Ships that use MF/HF single side-band radio, satellite communications, or telegraphy must continue to be licensed by the FCC.
Radios with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) Capability
If you have a marine radio with DSC capability, you must obtain a nine-digit maritime mobile service identity (MMSI) number and have it programmed into the unit before you transmit. Each vessel needs only one MMSI number. Prior to obtaining an MMSI number, you will be asked to provide certain information about your ship. It is important that you obtain an MMSI number because the U.S. Coast Guard uses this information to help speed search and rescue operations.

What's considered "satellite communications"? Direct TV? XM stereo? Sat phone?

Hi WindCrasher-
We just traded in our R27 (for an R31CB). Loved the boat. You are going to have a ton of fun it it! As for the spotlight, I would have to say that we never used ours. I was excited about trying it out, but the "light wash" off of the white front deck made the view forward untenable. It was too bright for light once we were at the dock also, so we didn't use it. A focus-able handheld it a better lighting system I think, or if you have mounting options put it up higher to avoid the light pollution from your front deck.
Happy boating!

It might do better on the mast on the platform above the radar dome. If it still washes the deck in light, oh well, that's just the way it is. I like the aesthetics of the chrome spotlight.

If I end up needing a hand-held, I'll just buy one of those too.

Hello Ron,

Yes, higher on the mast helps. The light is really quite useful in that location.
