We had an R25 2010 with an inboard which i really liked - except for the inboard which i found impossible to work on, and noisy. We thought long and hard about what to do because i really liked the Ranger Tug and all its features. Our new R23 arrived a couple of weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. Basically we got twice the speed and half the noise. I have no complaints at all. Visibility is really good. The various components seem to be laid out better and easier to find (switches, pumps- things like that). The 200HP Yamaha Outboard seems to have all the power we would want. Got right up on plane really quick. The fit and finish is really good which is important to me. The Chart plotter that came with it has a screen that is kind of small - i like lots of data so we are putting a bigger one in. The head is now down in the V-Berth which is fine with me because we do not cruise for long periods of time and i like the added visibility to the stern without the head in the way like it is on the R25. So for us - basically day sailors or week long cruisers, this is a really nice boat. I do not think there is much else out there that meets all my needs like the R23 does. We are very pleased with it.

Good to hear the 23 checks off all the boxes for you.....what chart plotter are you looking at for the upgrade?....have you considered adding a second unit or using an iPad for more screen and redundancy?

We have a R23 that we love and we spend weeks on the vessel cruising all over the country. It does everything we want.

I actually prefer using my IPad at the main source of info and the Garmin as a backup. To me having two different units with different software is really useful.

We crossed 50 nights aboard our R -23 last month after getting her delivered in mid-November. Lots to like about the R-23.

We trailer her, so we get to explore local lakes , and also love coastal boating. We’ve been as far north as Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA and as far south as (almost to) Savannah, GA.

My dealer did a really good job and is swapping me out a Garmin 8612SXV for the one that came with the boat. I need to learn how to use an IPAD along with it. We went out again yesterday and were once again quite pleased. I really like the outboard versus the inboard we had - it is so much quieter, and the 200 is more than adequate for what we do. A comfortable speed seems to be around 22 MPH which is around 4100 RPM. This boat is perfect for me and the wife, and plenty big for up to around 5 adults comfortably. They did a good job with the seating in the stern area. It is a little tight when you try to stand up at the helm, which i like to do when coming along side a dock. You have to be careful not to brush against the throttle. Those with a lot of belly would not be able to stand in the tight area up against the wheel, but is OK for me (for now anyway 😀 .)

Mariner & for fun...My sentiments exactly bought a lightly used (60hr)R23 last August... including performance noted in post... my came with ac... great for Stamford Ct slip.. great cruising boat for my wife and I on Long Is Sound,NY ( an occasionally grandkids/family) . Great boat... could not ask for more. (ps Have yet to figure how to reset inverter- which really don't use/need since mostly on shore power)
