Subject: My R29 CB delivered on time
Yesterday Ivan delivered my R29 CB in its glorious Hero Red coat. All went well even though the marina took much time lifting the boat off the trailer bunks to secure the slings. I think one of the hands must have been a trainee. 😉 No matter, it was eventually lowered to the water and Ivan and I moved it to its new home slip.
I had a slight friendly argument with the marina's operation manager who had raced out to the Travel Lift with his fancy measuring tape to measure the length of my R29 CB and claimed 33'-6" and I argued for 33'-4". We laughed but I won. 😀 I think he was trying to extract a few extra dollars for the slip....
Spent the whole day with Ivan going over all the various device operating techniques. Accessing the Webasto and fresh water filters was a dream. There's a pull-up panel in the isle floor immediately inside cabin door. This exposed both filters. Opening up the fresh water filter we cleaned out some fibre glass shavings with ease. Running the sink water I heard no pipe thumping or pulsing -- very welcomed. We had a slight issue with obtaining hot water and it was discovered the water heater's overload switch had tripped and was considered to have been caused by having the temperature setting knob being set to its Max position. Ivan adjusted this knob and reset the overload switch and we were in business. 😀 Access to the water heater was easy as at far end of the cave there's a pull-out panel that exposed the complete water heater unit. I'm glad Ivan did the cave Spelunking because for me I think I would have had to call 911 for help getting back out.
I simply love how RT labels every single piece of wire clearly.
We spent considerable time going over the use of the dual purpose Inverter device for proving battery charging and for proving 110v to the internal boats 110v outlets. I'm sure I'll be using my notes for the first times using the Inverter.
The Webasto heater's controls were a nice surprise compared to my R27/OB; press power button, select fan speed and then select heat temperature - and all done. However, it does not have the flashing lights for the 30 day maintenance check which was very nice to have on the R27/OB. No matter, will setup my online-Calendar for doing this on the new R29 CB.
The special storage trays under the galley cabinet floors are very very welcomed for stowing things rarely used. This is a nice feature RT has designed in.
Ivan told me to always have the trim tabs in the up position before opening the engine hatch as the piston assisted hatch opening requires hydraulic fluid and if trim tabs not fully up there's insufficient hydraulic fluid that may cause the engine hatch to only partially open. 😱 Tip well taken by me.
It will take me a bit of time to get used to the Volvo eKey operation for starting the engine.
We checked all the 110v outlets and the cig lighter outlets and all were functioning. 😀
I wish the toilet seat was a slow-closing seat.... the R27/OB's seat was slow closing.... not sure how I will fix this aspect as the grandkids have a tendency to slam the seat down with a Big Bang. 😉
Here's a shared photo album of the delivery event.
