Hello Everyone:
Dawn-Marie and I had a great time at the Nanaimo Rendevous festivities, even though we were boatless. We took photos of most of the boats that went through Dodd Narrows between 13:20 and 14:20 hours--- some twenty odd boats. We also took a great overview shot from our hotel of the Port of Nanaimo marina showing most of the fleet!

Please go to Owner's Albums, then go to "Newtugnut". If anyone would like copies of the photos, please contact us. 😛

Sincerely,
Dawn-Marie & Frank

Thanks Frank and Dawn Marie. Great photos! We arrived safely in Pender Harbour yesterday. All 50 plus boats! Georgia Strait was a bit angry but our boats and crew handled the water very nicely. We are headed to Gorge Harbour today. Everyone is having a great time! Look forward to you joining us next year.

Thanks Dawn Marie and Frank! It was great to see both of you again. Be sure to keep in touch.

Great Pictures, Thanks for being there. Willie probably took pictures of you. Check them out on her blog. I am sure everyone will want the outstanding shots of their boats going through the narrows.

Update on the Photographs: The quality is not that great on Tugnuts (after looking at them again), in the interests of conserving memory. The full size versions are 5 mb files - much better quality.

PS I tried again on a few of them to improve the quality but still see pixelation on the hand rails of all the boats 🙁

It sounds like you had a great trip, and the photo from Nanaimo harbour, with all the Rangers, is amazing. Sorry we missed it! We are planning on our first trip to the San Juan Is., from Sidney, in about a week. Any recommendations for places to moor, marinas to stop at, or places where reservations are a must? thanks! Kathy & Wishart

Thanks for the feedback: Here are some suggestions for the San Juans. When the kids were young this area was our regular destination for about 14 years IE: laundromats, kids facilities.

Here is the typical itinerary we used to do with comments for some of the destinations.

Sydney - Roche Harbour clear customs (via Nexis even easier), anchor out (a bit of boat swell though), unless you anchor near the old dock for the swimming pool and stern line to shore. Slips will need reservations

Roche - Friday Harbour a great destination, again anchoring out boat swell, need to reserve at the dock

Friday Harbour - Rosarios Resort We like the mooring buoys which entitles you to use all the facilities, otherwise at the dock (need to reserve) - Consider also a stop at Deer Harbour if you have kids who like pools

From Rosarios up to Sucia or Fisherman Bay (depths/entrance a little tricky) or Spencer Spit or over to Anacortes and then to La Connor, back home through Deception Pass

Please send a private message if you need more info

Pics now fixed up with better resolution. Some pics have no names. If anyone knows who they are - we will fix them🙂
