Can anyone share their installation location and power connections for their Nebo Link.
Will be adding this prior to our Loop start in the spring.

Thanks
Joe

On my R27-OB I mounted it on the side wall just behind the Yamaha controls. I have never wired the white wire and have never had a problem with the NeboLink automatically starting. A guy with a R31 posted this on Facebook TugNuts that should work on your R29.

From Gary Harkins....
I found an electrical point to connect the white wire of the NeboLink that should work on most if not all RT's. The engine monitor screen only has power when the ignition switch is operated. I took the connector off the back of the engine monitor and probed each contact with a voltmeter to find the one that was hot when the ignition switch is operated and dead when it is not operated. I then stripped about 1/4 inch off the end of the white wire and inserted it into that contact. The wires are so fine that the connector can still be slipped back on the engine monitor even with the wire inserted. That makes the white wire hot when the ignition switch is operated and dead when it is not operated. Since the ignition switch needs to be operated to start the engine and remains operated until you shut the boat down, it makes this connection point ideal and extremely simple.

I mounted ours inside the helm wiring access (in the head area) on our R-23. Easy place to get power, and to fish a wire to the ignition switch.

I guess the Nebo link is low draw some it can be connected easily.
I’ll wait to March to order, in case there are any updates to the device.

Thanks

Here is a web link to the NeboLink install on my 2020 R-29 CB....mounted on the helm wiring/fuse panels/instrument access door in the head. Utilized the fuse panel on the left side of door to connect the power leads....white lead was not utilized...works just fine w/o white lead being connected to the ignition.....did not want to risk any issues with the Volvo Penta electronics system.

Previously I utilized the Nebo app on my iPad which also worked, however, I often would forget to engage the app when commencing the voyage or would fail to close out the app at the voyage conclusion....the NeboLink automatically records your transit and still gives you options to edit the voyage information...its a nice addition to your log info and can be shared with others.

Thanks all, Thanks Marc, great post, great images!

Marc, I assume the Nebolink is ON 24/7 using your install method. If the white wire was connected to the ignition the Nebolink would only be ON when the ignition is ON. Correct?
Thank you.

According to the Nebolink web support frequently asked questions:

How much power does the Nebolink use?

Approximately 50mA when moving.
Approximately 60mA while the internal battery is charging (1100mAh LiPo internal backup battery pack).
The nebolink has intelligent power management and the device enters sleep mode when boat is inactive to prevent battery drain. The sleep mode current is less than 1mA.

I put a cigarette lighter plug on the end of the Nebo cord and plug it into a socket when I want to have it operating. The device sits on the dashboard.
