How do you replace the screen in the slider window above the sink in a 27ft Ranger Tug? Can you remove the slider piece to take for re-screening without have to take off the window frame?
Those wonderful drunk neighbors lLOL
Thanks!

You shouldn't have to remove the window . There is usually a spring piece on top of the screen . Slide the screen to the middle of the window , and just lift up until it comes out from the bottom . There is a little plastic beading holds the actual screen in.. If you get some replacement screen they are very easy to replace..Just take your time.. There is a screen roller to push the screen down into the groove , but you can use anything that fits to get the screen pushed down and then just work the beading in and cut off excess screen.. I'm sure lots of "how to " on line, Or take it to a shop and they can do it quickly while you wait 🙂
Good luck

Thank you. But it is very hard to get it out of the track and I do not want to scratch anything up. If I push it up it still does not give me the room to get it out. Am I missing something ??

You should be able to get it out if you center it in the window frame. Push up hard. It just makes it out. You do have to force it a bit. You may even have to bow it a little in the center at one end and as you get the one end out work it towards the center of the screens frame and then the opposite end.

If the R-27 window above the sink is similar to my R-25 window then the screen doesn't have a spring that can be compressed (i.e. it is different than the screens located on the forward windows), instead you need to remove the translucent spacer (1/4 inch thick and several inches long) that is "glued" in the window frame. I found that this spacer can be easily removed. Visibility is significantly improved with the screens removed. The spacer and screen can be easily re-installed.

Got it out rescreened and put back in. Thanks to all the people that posted help

Hi Glen -
How did you get the translucent spacers out? I’m having the same issue.

Thanks!

Hi Eric,

I put new screen material in my R27 Classic screens this last winter. My screens were also very hard to remove as there was no clearance even with the leaf springs at the top fully compressed. I also tried removing the clear plastic strip to no avail. I eventually was able to get them out by using two very thin flat putty knife type blades if you are careful not to slide them they don’t scratch. Just use the blades to force the screen up from the bottom over the window frame flange.
