Need HS 45AE-C Reverse Gear

I need either a rebuilt or used Volvo Penta HS 45AE-C reverse gear. I have a new ZF on order (maker of the VP RG) through the local ZF dealer, however it has been 4 months and the dealer does not know when it will be available. I would like to get the boat back together.

It just so happens that the VP RG is somewhat different than the ZF45A that is the basis for the VP. It requires a different case that is compatible with the VP shifting control block, so the ZF’s widely available are not compatible with the VP application.

Any help would be appreciated.

The dealer came through and my new ZF45A reverse gear was delevered yesterday. All that is needed now is to see if the VP shifting control block fits and the new reverse gear fits in the boat. I have had some conflicting information on compatibility between the VP RG and the ZF RG from dealers and ZF. The latest I received from ZF customer service is that the Volvo Penta HS 45AE-C is a modified version of the ZF45A. The modifications are for using higher HP and RPM Volvo Penta motors than the ZF45A was originally designed. I was told that the modifications were mainly to improve fluid flow within the reverse gear. I have a D3 150i-G and the specifications on that motor are within the performance envelope for an umodified ZF45A and its intended use. So if the ZF45A fits mechanically in my application I assume it will work.

I hope this does not turn out to be an expensive experiment that fails.
