Subject: New 2019 R29 CB performance data captured today
One of the things to do IMO while a boat is brand new with brand new bottom paint is to obtain a performance baseline to compare against as the boat ages and load distribution alters.
Today the weather was ideal; sunny, little to no wind, slack tide, smooth waters and little swells.
Engine: Volvo D4 300HP with 6 hrs.
130 gallons of fuel onboard.
75% fresh water onboard (30 gallons).
Holding tank empty.
One person and my 20 lb Wire Hair Fox terrier onboard.
Cabin windows open and cabin door closed and all hatches closed.
Trim tabs adjusted to maximize performance (they affected bow down/up nicely but altered performance just a tad)
Maybe no more than 300 lbs of stowed gear.
Two propane tanks were full on the swim step.
Swim step mounted dinghy - None.
I ran the boat in one direction to gather data and then retraced my course and recorded data again. The following is the average of both runs.
6.0 kts / 7 mph
1300 RPM, 6.7 nm/gal, 7 mpg, 0.9 gph
8.0 kts / 9.2 mph
1850 RPM, 2.9 nm/gal, 3.34 mpg, 3 gph
10 kts / 11.5 mph
2380 RPM, 1.9 nm/gal, 2.2 mpg, 5.8 gph
12 kts / 13.8 mph
2560 RPM, 1.7 nm/gal, 2.0 mpg, 7.3 gph
15 kts / 17.3 mph
2920 RPM, 1.6 nm/gal, 1.85 mpg, 9.7 gph
17.6 kts / 20.25 mph
3190 RPM, 1.54 nm/gal, 1.8 mpg, 11.7 gph
19 kts / 21.9 mph
3300 RPM, 1.5 nm/gal, 1.73 mpg, 12.4 gph
21 kts / 24.2 mph
3500 RPM, 1.52 nm/gal, 1.75 mpg, 13.7 gph
23 kts / 26.5 mph (WOT)
3620 RPM, 1.51 nm/gal, 1.74 mpg, 15.3 gph
