Active Captain announced a new android app, MX Mariner, is now supporting Active Captain. I checked it out. It costs only $6.99 for MX Mariner and the NOAA charts are free. I installed it on my cell phone and it works great. It is a chartplotter app. I like it better than Navionics because in Navionics when you zoom in, the fonts stay small and hard to read. In MX Mariner, the fonts get larger when zooming-in which sure helps these tired old eyes. The two distractors I have found are 1) only one map region can be active at a time and 2) Active Captain Reviews do not get downloaded. I like to look at the reviews for anchorages and marinas.
I highly recommend this app for use on Android devices as a backup chartplotter. The price is right and it works great. Check it out at the Google Play Store.
