Ginny and I just bought a 2017 C 28 and have already spent a night on it. We live in Annapolis, MD, and it has already started to get cold here. Since we were plugged in at a friend's dock, we used the heat and were perfectly comfortable. I know I don't have to tell all the Cutwater owners just how terrific this boat is. We ventured out into the Chesapeake Bay last Sunday when it was blowing about 25. We encountered 6 ft waves and had white water coming over the top of the boat now and then for about a half hour. Pretty scary, but the boat handled it just fine. I have begun to learn how to use all of its systems. I trust that if I get completely stumped, I can rely on my Cutwater tribe to help me.

You gotta love a new owner! 6 ft. waves and wind at 25! Divorce was not mentioned either. i remember those days
Enjoy the great boat!

God bless you if you went boating in 6' wind waves in a 28' Cutwater. Congrats on the new boat. These small coastal cruisers are not met for that big water but as you experienced they will get you home. Not fun and as you put it scary. I was talking to a Captain of a 62'Viking last weekend at Orange Beach Al. The Gulf has been snotty the last week or so but he took the owner of the boat offshore fishing anyway. The average sea was 6' (wind waves) so short with caps. I asked how the boat handled the sea's? He responded. "Ok, but we were getting beat up. I had to cut back the throttles and the stabilizer was working full time. When your in 6's you are going to see some" 9's and I don't care how big of a boat you have that is not fun."

I'm a firm believer in no bigger than 2' in a small coastal cruiser. Hopefully the Chesapeake is kind to you and doesn't throw 6' at you often. Good luck and enjoy your new Cutwater.

Congratulations Mark! My wife and I have a vacation home on the Bush River in Aberdeen and just bought a C28 in May. We logged about 120 hours this season and found ourselves in some snotty conditions from time to time. I was cruising on the inside (West, heading south) of Pooles Island navigating 3-4-5s while on a Zoom call for work 🙂 That was the highlight of my season.

Enjoy the boat and feel free to reach out if you're in the neighborhood!
