Since we bought our boat this July we’ve put close to 100 hours on it, and love everything... well, almost everything. The captain’s seat just wasn’t comfortable for cruising more than a couple of hours.

So, after seeing a few other seat mods, the attached photos show what I came up with.

Looks like an excellent repurpose of a car seat. Would you be willing to share what the donor vehicle was? It would be great to know. Thanks!

This looks nice. Any chance you have a link to where you purchased the chair?

Thanks!

I’d love to give you a link, but this is actually a used second row seat from a minivan. I bought it locally from a guy who had pulled them out and stored them, and then wrote off the van. Luckily for me, the seats had basically not been used and were like new.

It was an older (around 2002 I think) Ford Windstar minivan. This was a second row seat which is why it folds up like it does.

Looks like it was made for your boat! Great find!

I installed a similar car seat from a dodge caravan although Ford seat looks smaller and a better fit.

The good news is they are often removed and tucked away in peoples garages long after mini vans are sold.

That looks good. They’re a fair upgrade from the original seat, which, IMO, is just plain uncomfortable.
