Hello all, I have been a sailor for many years, starting back in the Virgin Islands in the early 80's sailing monohulls. I presently have a little 21 ft Cobalt runabout that we enjoy here in the Texas hill country. I have been following the "Ranger Tug" development for a few years now. My wife and I stopped by the factory a few years back while on vacation and took a tour (great folks), most recently we were in Newport, R.I. last weekend at the boat show and saw the new 29......WOW, great job guys! I have been looking and studying the Grand Banks 36 (early 90's model) for some time now and you guy go and produce a winner like the 29? Now I'm all messed up 😉 I hope to be a owner sometime soon. Great site ya'll !

Welcome fellow Texan!
You will enjoy this list. There are a couple of 21s available in your area. One in Marble Falls and one in Canyon Lake. Look like really good deals. But I know you have fell in love with that 29. Good luck in your search.

Welcome Aboard. There's also Ink's Lake. Either way, you'll have too much fun where ever you go with a tug. Once I get done with my tour at the Pentagon, and return home to the "Great State of Texas", we'll have to get together and cruise the lakes in our tugs. 😀

Thanks y'all, We live on Lake Marble Falls and have a vacation rental home on LBJ......but, my intended use for the 29 would be a loop trip or partial loop trip. The Grand Banks 36 was going to be my first choice but we are now looking closely at the 29 Ranger. I hope to be on the water soon, 2 kids left at home and they should be on their way to higher education very $oon

sailusvi,

Good luck in picking your Ranger! I really like the size of the R29. It's a perfect size for two people, of course my wife thinks 40 feet is almost enough. 😉 Can't remember the draft on the Grand Banks, but the 28 inches of the R29 can come in handy along the ICW.

Wish you better luck with childrens' education (from a financial aspect) than what we experienced. Our two were twins. Both were in college and grad school at the same for 7 years each. Our son was in vet school, fortunately he had early entry, or we'd have had kids in school forever. 🙂 The education was worth it, but it sure dented our savings and investments. But, I kept sailing on my 1979 sailboat.

Gene
