We just purchased our first generator for our Cutwater. When plugged it in to the shore power plug on the boat and started it, the reverse polarity light came on in the the boat's electric control panel.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

A known issue with the Honda 2000 generators, as it does not produce a "grounded" output. We used one on our previous C-Dory for years with no issue. You can join the neutral and ground wire in an adapter, but we never felt the need for that.

To add to that. The Honda has a floating ground, hence the reverse polarity. If you buy a plug and jump the neutral (silver screw) to the ground (green screw) and then plug that into the free receptacle the reverse polarity should go away. With that said, there has been many a discussion and thread regarding the proper, or one may say improper, usage of a portable generator on a boat. One issue is carbon monoxide and the other is shock hazard. So be diligent with both.
