Congrats on your R-27 ownweship. You will find that on the east coast a dingy is not as much as a necessity as it is on the west coast. However, if you anchor out and want to get to shore or explore a dingy is a nice added feature. An inflatable soft bottom with inflatable floor is fine for the east coast. Hypolon will withstand UV rays, but is a little heavier. When not in use and deflated the inflatable fits nicely under the solar panel when stored. An electric, high volume inflators works very well. We never bought Davies and when using the dingy we lash it to the swim step. It is a bit more cumbersome with that method, but definitely saves $800 or so on davits. My advice to new owners is use your boat and you will figure out what best fits your needs.
