Purchased last year in Savannah, McTug - only 92 hrs - survey showed above average. Keeping in dry stack (on ground cradle) in Beaufort, SC. Learning all systems and using for cruising. Wonderful boat. Now looking for a dinghy.

Welcome!
I’m envious. I believe the late model RT-27 diesel Classics to be the best easily trailerable trawler style cruiser ever made. Sounds like you purchased one in great shape.
Learning about all the systems that RT packed into the boat will take some time but really helps keeping everything in good running condition and when the inevitable glitch occurs.
Enjoy!
PS: We upgraded from an PVC inflated floor dinghy to a Hypalon rigid floor dinghy and are very happy with the better handling and durability of the rigid floor. On the east coast with its sandy beaches you may not need the durability of an aluminum or fiberglass floor but in the PNW with rocky and oyster shell filled landings it’s worth the extra cost. Ours weights in at 80 pounds which is the upper limit for me to raise up on the Weaver davits.

Congrats Mike!

I know y'all will enjoy it.

Congrats on your R-27 ownweship. You will find that on the east coast a dingy is not as much as a necessity as it is on the west coast. However, if you anchor out and want to get to shore or explore a dingy is a nice added feature. An inflatable soft bottom with inflatable floor is fine for the east coast. Hypolon will withstand UV rays, but is a little heavier. When not in use and deflated the inflatable fits nicely under the solar panel when stored. An electric, high volume inflators works very well. We never bought Davies and when using the dingy we lash it to the swim step. It is a bit more cumbersome with that method, but definitely saves $800 or so on davits. My advice to new owners is use your boat and you will figure out what best fits your needs.
