I am a new owner of 2016 R21EC. Needless to say I am very excited to get started enjoying it. The boat is currently at the dealers and will remain there until the Spring of 2016 when the ice goes out of the local lakes in my area. The boat has air conditioning, safety package, swim platform rails, anchor package, and a bimini top. What i would appreciate are any suggestions or ideas from other R21 owners of any additional helpful add ons that I might consider. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Congrat on your new tug Esquire!

You might wanna go in the photo albums posted by the owners, there are lot's of idea there for modification and improvement. That is were that I found most of my ideas... 😀

An extra 12v plug, nets for hanging clothes around the berth... All kind of stuff there

We are waiting for the spring to arrive too... Once We get the boat out of storage, I will add all kind of improvements and post more pictures in my album.

Hello Esquire,

I have a highly "modded" 21EC. Given that there are many 'mods' to choose from my most-used, favorite mod is hands-down the AUTOPILOT. I have the Raymarine EV200 Sportdrive model which I installed myself. The AP gets used EVERY time I run the boat. Its probably steering the boat 95% of the time it's moving. VERY handy.

Installing various 'cubbies' or places to store your 'stuff' are also very handy. I built some shelves along the aft pilot house wall over the fridge. I also made 'bags' from Phifertex (and window covers too) which snap onto the cabin interior and act as gear storage containers. They help to eliminate the 'clutter' which quickly arrises in such a small cabin.

Look through some photo albums or check out (this) "Owner Customization" forum for more ideas/pics.

Great ideas Pat and Dave. Thank you for your help. I am still working my way through the Tugnuts site and learning as I go. Thank again! John

Esquire, welcome to the Tugnuts family. I'm sorry you have to wait until the ice breaks up to enjoy your new tug .....you might call the factory and see if they still offer the optional ice breaker bow  ....your season could start weeks earlier. It's not much better here on lake Hartwell ... We have had so much rain the lake has risen over two and a half feet in the last five days. Look at the photo albums and you will soon have more ideas for boat toys than you ever thought possible. Again, welcome aboard from "Reflections" and crew ....... Fran 😉

Thank you Fran for the welcome. I am slowly reading the modifications forum. John

For anyone interesting in netting-type of organizational accessories, I recently learned about this vendor:
http://www.organizedobie.com/categories/239/Netting-Organization

Their accessories, from my quick run through, look reasonably priced and have gotten some good reviews by bloggers who found the company through RV shows. They have lots of other organizational products too. I've only grazed the surface of what they offer, but thought I would pass on the link.

Thank you Gini. It looks like an interesting website. John

You're welcome John. Congrats on your new R21EC, and welcome to Tugnuts!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

I have a 2013 21EC. Love it. I have had fun adding modifications. But, the beauty of this boat is that Ranger has refined the boat over many years. I would encourage you to enjoy their product and use this website to refine your boat. You are going to have a great adventure.

Sorry for the late reply - Welcome Aboard.
We are also on Winnipesaukee and waiting for "Ice Out".
Take a peak at "World of Ranger Tugs" link to find us.
It will be great to have another 21 on the lake.
Wolfboro is about 9 miles from Smiths Cove in Gilford.

Congrats on your new 21EC. You will love it and Lake Winnipesaukee is the perfect lake for your boat. I kept a sailboat in Smith Cove at Fay's Marina for several years and loved sailing the lake.

I was at the Ranger Tug show last summer in Wentworth, NH and they had just sold their demo 21Ec to someone on Lake Winnipesaukee. Was that you?
Bob

Congratulations on the new R21EC.
I too just took delivery a few months ago on one. If you are like me, I can't wait for the weather to get better.
Have a great year!

Congratulations on your 2016 R21EC. I have one of these as well and I'm mighty pleased with it.

If you want to store your cockpit table then remove the engine box cushion, place the cockpit table in its canvas bag on top of the box and re-install the cushion. Snap it down on one side then sit on the other side and snap it down. It's a snug fit and the cushion is still comfy for sitting on, and you will hide the table as it's a PITA to find another suitable space to store it easily and not take up so much space.

Thank you for the reply. Maybe this upcoming summer we can meet for lunch at one of our fine lake side restaurants. Enjoy the remainder of the winter and hope for an early ice out! If and when the entire lake freezes over.
