Greetings From the Hudson Valley New York. I recently purchased a RangerTug 21Ec. As a first time boat owner and operator I'm very excited. On her Maiden voyage...day of delivery, I was lucky enough to have the warmest day of the season. I went underway on the Long Island sound through Hell gate, down the East river to the tip of Manhattan at the Battery. Spent the night by the Statue of Liberty and proceeded the next day north on the Hudson to the Home Port of West Point. I was bucking the current the entire trip due to time management and more importantly tides and currents. It was slow and steady and exactly what I wanted in a boat. I learned a few good lessons along the way.

Welcome to the "club!" May you have many great and memorable adventures aboard your new Ranger.

Welcome Hudsonranger to the Ranger and Tugnuts family. I spent many years running a CC Sea Skiff out of Demarest, Alpine and Closter ....... Hope you have many enjoyable days on the Hudson in your new 21. You will find the little tug a well-built and reliable cruiser and we may run into each other on one of our Erie canal summer runs. Thank you all...enjoy the summer

It has been an interesting summer. I put a lot of hours on her this past season....my first. This past week was my most trying endeavor. I trailered Hilda's Reign up to Point Judith Rhode Island got her into the water picked up some friends and went underway to Block Island the water was perfect 1 foot seas it was smooth like a lake. Upon approaching the Great Salt Pond I saw a few big brother Ranger Tug 25' and 27' heading out to see. I reached out to the Marina via radio like I have been doing this for years. I docked all with out a hitch. Surprisingly on the other side of the dock there was another twin Ranger 21EC named the Cherry Top....I was amazed. Many fellow boaters warned me not to head out with my lack of experience. Block Island was amazing. Now for the way back .....I had a 2 day window for my return the first day Monday there was a small craft advisory so I did not leave. The next 2 days were forecasted to be 2'-4" seas 20 knot North east winds the rest of the week 4'-'6' Seas. There were no small craft advisory so I set off into the abyss. It was an incredible rock and roll ride I'm sure there were higher waves as I was surfing on waves, going sideways twisting and turning and crashing on to waves. I have always had a great respect for the ocean as I am very safety minded. For 2 Hours it was one of the most trying times as a new Captain. Hilda's Reign was sturdy just like the person I named her for. although it was great training, I probably won't....I hope. If I could use two words "white knuckles "

Glad to hear that you made it back from Block Island OK. It truly is an amazing place. The waters back to the mainland can get tricky this time of year. The other EC21 seems to live there as I saw it when I was there in June tied up at the Oar.

Sure was an experience, the other 21EC has a NY registration and it was at Champlins. Lucky them if they live there Block Island is a great place.
