R-23 (Outboard)
I've just joined Tugnuts and this is my first post. I recently purchased a new R-23 and have been really enjoying the boat so far!! I do have a concern with my starboard windshield, which gives an unusual reflection of subhorizontal lines when it's sunny out (see attached photos). I don't see anything similar in the port windshield and it doesn't happen when it's cloudy.

Do any other Ranger Tug owners see similar reflection patterns? I haven't found any posts mentioning similar concerns with others, so it looks to me like this is not a common occurrence. Any feedback would be most appreciated! Thanks!Starboard Window 1.jpgStarboard Window 2.jpg

I have not seen anything like that on my 2020 R23. Just looking at the pictures, I would initially think it's Saran Wrap, but obviously not. I assume the washed the window many times trying to remove it. Window defect? Honestly haven't a clue....

Ghost of a prior owner?

Does the reflection move up and down the windshield as you track toward and away from the sun?It could just be coming off the railing and since the window is curved, instead of a sun spot you get a weird sun streak.

The sun appears to be behind you. This appears to be the reflection of the sun off the waves and is distorted by the curve of the glass. This assumes that the reflection diminishes when the sun angle is no longer optimal for reflection - as in headed "upsun" with the sum coming directly thru the windshield. It should go away if you pull the side curtain. Nice photo BTW....

I believe that the streaks are most pronounced when there's a reflection from the railing. When the sun angles are right, other Ranger Tug owners should also get a reflection from their railings and/or from the waves - but do they get a similar sun streak across their windows? I don't see anything similar from my port side window, so it looks to me like it's a defect - but I just wanted to see if other Ranger Tug owners experience similar reflective streaks through their curved windshields. Thanks very much for your replies!

I was out on the Chesapeake yesterday at sunset we had similar reflections, I realized it was the sun reflecting off the water. When I turned direction the reflection would move across the windshield then disappear, turn back into the direction where I had been, and the reflection would reappear. This was the first time I noticed it and it was not a major deal for us.

We have a new 27 and get reflections in our windshield that look like your picture. This picture was taken from the port side thru the port windshield. It was the water reflecting and it was interfering with my view of beautiful Mt Rainier. This was taken right before sunset. I don’t have a solution for you, but I don’t think it is a defect.
